Read about our impact delivering relationship counselling and training along with our policy work this year and how we helped more people than ever.
The couple therapy charity Tavistock Relationships has published its annual report, revealing that the charity was able to support more couples and families than ever before, delivering nearly 20,000 clinical therapy sessions - of which 4,700 were low fee supporting people on low incomes - and providing couple therapy training to over 1,500 people.
Andrew Balfour, CEO of Tavistock Relationships, explains:
“Relationships are crucial for our social recovery and we are working to ensure that more people in the UK can access high quality relationship support.
“All the evidence shows that partners who enjoy good quality, strong relationships are better able to support each other and their children through difficulties. Conversely, the impact of sustained, intense and unresolved couple conflict is damaging to the mental health and wellbeing of the individuals, families and their children.
“As an organisation we are constantly evolving to reach more people, working with our NHS, local authority and charity partners to deliver evidence-based interventions to people from diverse backgrounds, right across the UK.
“We have been investing in our digital capacity and have developed our Between Us relationship support app for use by local authorities. And we continue to act as a knowledge centre of excellence for couple relationships, undertaking research, and working to influence policy in the sector to ensure that access to quality relationship support exists for all.” To see Tavistock Relationships’ annual review, go to https://tavistockrelationships.org/about-us/annual-reviews
