Tavistock Relationships launches first public fundraising campaign

Tavistock Relationships, the charity helping individuals and couples to have better relationships, has launched its first public fundraising campaign #SupportTavistockRelationships, seeking to raise money to help more parents have less hostile relationships, reducing the damaging impact of inter-parental conflict on children.
The charity, which this year celebrates its 75th anniversary, is the foremost organisation in the UK specialising in the psychoanalytic treatment of couples.
Around one in every eight children in the UK grows up surrounded by frequent, intense and unresolved conflict between their parents. Research shows that this can have a significantly negative effect on their mental health and future life chances. Andrew Balfour, CEO of Tavistock Relationships, explains:
“We have experienced significant cuts, which is why, for the first time ever, we are issuing a call to everyone who cares about our work, and who understands how fundamentally important stable and healthy relationships are for the mental and physical health, to please donate to our #SupportTavistockRelationships JustGiving campaign.
“For more than 75 years we’ve been working with couples to help them have a better relationship, with less conflict. In that time, we’ve helped many thousands of people and we want to help more of the hundreds of thousands of children caught up in ongoing conflict between their parents.
“We use evidence-based approaches and our work has a hugely beneficial impact on people’s mental health and relationship quality. We know that families face different challenges. Supporting parents, whether they are separated or together, who are caught in cycles of relationship conflict to make changes in their behaviour is a matter of equity and social justice.”
