Gail Kent

Biography

Gail Kent is a senior official in the European Union Institution in Luxembourg. She is in one of the largest DGs where she is Director of Data, which includes policies (and research programmes) on building the data economy, promoting cultural heritage and creativity and removing digital barriers. Throughout 2016, Gail was also the acting Deputy DG. She has more than 20 years of high level experience of managing large budgets, finance, compliance and HR management in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural highly political environment. She has a degree in Economics, an MBA and a FT Non-Executive Director Diploma. She is also a member of the Independent Advisory Boards of the Public Policy Institute and of the doctoral centre in Responsible AI, both at Bath University.

Biography

Mavis Maclean CBE has carried out Socio Legal Research in Oxford since the establishment of the Centre for Socio Legal Studies in 1974, and founded OXFLAP in 2001. She has acted as Academic Adviser to the Lord Chancellor’s Department, and served as a panel member on the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry 1998-2001, a major public inquiry into the National Health Service. She is a Senior Research Fellow of St Hilda’s College. In 1993 she was elected President of the Research Committee for the Sociology of Law of the International Sociological Association , in 2000 a Trustee of the Law and Society Association and awarded the first SLSA Prize for Contributions to the Socio Legal Community in 2012. In 2013 she was made an Honorary Bencher of Middle Temple. She has served on a number of grant making committees, for the Nuffield Foundation , the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and was a member of the Lord Chancellor’s Legal Aid Advisory Committee 1992-4. She chairs the TCRU Advisory Committee, Institute of Education, University of London , and is a member of the Centre for Family Research Management Committee in Cambridge and Tavistock Relationships, London. She has researched and written extensively on law and policy for many years, and is committed to the value of empirical evidence in decision making.

Meet Stanley Ruszczynski

Stanley Ruszczynski

Biography

Stanley Ruszczynski is a psychoanalyst and psychoanalytic couple psychotherapist, a Full Member of BPA, IPA, Guest Member of the BPAS and an Honorary Member of the Polish Association for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Between 1997 and 2021, he was a Consultant Adult Psychotherapist at the Portman Clinic, part of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust (including holding the role of Clinic Director, 2005-2016). The Portman Clinic offers psychotherapeutic treatment to patients disturbed by their criminality, violence or damaging sexual behaviours, and teaching and consultancy programmes for colleagues in mental health, criminal justice and social care settings. Between 1979 and 1997, he was a senior member of staff at Tavistock Relationships (including holding the roles of Clinical Co-ordinator and Training Co-ordinator, and, between 1987 and 1993, Deputy Director). He has taught extensively in the UK and abroad and over the last ten years, together with Mary Morgan, has established the practice of psychoanalytic couple psychotherapy in Poland. He has authored many book chapters and articles, and is a contributory editor and co-editor of five books. He now has a private practice as a psychoanalyst, a psychoanalytic couple psychotherapist and teacher.

Biography

Jane has been Chief Operating Officer at the Institute for Employment Studies since July 2015 and is also the company secretary. Jane started her career at the BBC and then spent many years in the International NGO and charity sector, starting as a VSO volunteer, then working at Sight Savers International before becoming chief finance officer at the International HIV/AIDS Alliance, a charity that works to combat HIV and AIDS in developing countries. Jane moved to the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) in 2007 as chief operating officer. IPPR is a progressive think tank with a mission to open up opportunity, power and prosperity to everyone. Jane has been a member of the Board of Trustees at Tavistock Relationships since September 2016. She is also a pension trustee. Jane is also on the Board of Directors of the Pepal Foundation, a social enterprise that designs and delivers life changing executive development programmes. Jane is a law graduate and a CCAB qualified accountant. She also has an MBA.

After completing a BSc in Counselling Psychology and MSc in Occupational and Organisational Psychology, Anne Hellgren worked in the corporate world for 14 years as an international sales and account manager. She is fluent in four languages and has experience of sales and business development in a range of industries and business sectors. She left the corporate world to start her own coaching practice where she specialises as a relationship coach. As an internationally-accredited Coach, NLP Practitioner and Time-Line Therapy Practitioner, she’s passionate about empowering people in their relationship by working on their self-worth, clarity and communication.

Biography

Lucy is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years’ experience delivering and running primary care psychological therapy services for the NHS in East London. She became CEO of Compass Wellbeing in 2013, a social enterprise providing Psychological Therapy, School Nursing and Family Nurse Partnership services. She ran this award winning organisation until November 2018. She was awarded an MBE in 2018 for services to children’s mental health and primary care and recently led a national project for the British Psychological Society on good practice in primary care clinical psychology. She now works as an organisational consultant providing staff support and reflective practice for GPs, medical students and maternity staff. She also provides coaching and clinical supervision for mental health professionals and has a small private therapy practice . She chairs Tavistock Relationship’s Quality and Practice committee.

Biography

Jennie serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees and has held senior executive positions in world-leading, global organisations with forty years of experience in Philanthropy, Investor Relations, Corporate Affairs, Communications and Corporate Responsibility in the Healthcare, Financial Services, Higher Education and NHS Charities. Until 2024 Jennie was Executive Director of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations at King’s College and a member of the University’s leadership team, a role she held from 2017. During her time, Jennie led a team to deliver an integrated fundraising and Alumni relations programme across King’s College London, King’s Health Partners and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, raising over £250m in philanthropic income in support of strategic priorities. She is a Fellow of King’s College London. Prior to joining King’s, Jennie was Vice President and Global Head of Corporate Affairs at AstraZeneca. Before that, Jennie was Senior Managing Director at management consultants FTI Consulting, and Global Head of Communications and Client Marketing for Corporate and Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank. Prior to this, Jennie was Global Head of Corporate Communications, Corporate Responsibility and Community Partnerships at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2004 Jennie won the “European Women of Achievement Award for Business” for her achievements at GSK and for women in business. Jennie started her career as an Investment Analyst at Kleinwort Benson and Barclays de Zoete Wedd. She graduated from Exeter University in the UK, where she gained an honours degree in Psychology. Jennie is also Non-Executive Chairman of the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) and a Trustee of the Chelsea Physic Garden. Jennie is Non-Executive Chairman of Helen & Douglas House, the children’s hospice based in Oxford.

Biography

James Sinclair Taylor is a solicitor and a consultant. He has worked all his life providing legal and consultancy advice for a diverse range of charities including BACP and BPF as well as international and national charities, including Unicef, Barnardo’s, the National Trust and many local smaller and start-up charities. He specialises in helping organisations with governance, regulatory issues and managing change and risk. Throughout his life he has served as a trustee for many different types of charities including a housing association, medical, grant makers and adventure play charities, and as governor of a college. He’s currently a trustee of a development trust, Perennial - a benevolent organisation - and Afghan Aid. His experience in governance was recognised when he was appointed protector of Nesta by the Secretary of State. He believes strongly that TR has an important role in alleviating human suffering.
