Damian McCann, Head of Learning & Development and Director of City Wellbeing Centre, explains our plan to support carers in the City of London.
Tavistock Relationships is an internationally-renowned charity with over 70 years experiencing of delivering high quality mental health and therapeutic support for individual, couples and groups. Recently commissioned by the City of London Corporation to run its new City Wellbeing Centre, we are extremely excited to have secured funding to provide therapeutic services specifically for carers in the City of London. We firmly believe that there is a recognised need to extend the existing therapeutic support we offer to this vulnerable group, especially as the pandemic is slowing lifting.
Building on our ‘Living Together with Dementia Service’, which offers a short-term intervention for couples and which provides support and help with the changes that accompany dementia, we are aiming to offer individual therapeutic support to carers as well as relationship support for carers and their partners. These interventions will sit alongside our groupwork offer for individual carers and also for carers and their partners. The interventions we will be delivering over the coming year are designed to support carers and their partners as we emerge from lockdown.
We are currently in the process of contacting carers in the City of London with a view to understanding and designing the service to meet their specific needs.
We are currently in the process of contacting carers in the City of London with a view to understanding and designing the service to meet their specific needs. We are particularly interested in learning whether the interventions we will be offering are both responsive to the needs of carers and their partners and at the same time are effective in meeting those needs.
Our offer sits within existing services and resources that already offer support and provides a much-needed boost to the range of services available to carers and their partners in the City of London. If you require further information or would like to support the development of this exciting new initiative, then we would be very pleased to hear from you.
