World class clinical training from Tavistock Relationships

Tavistock Relationships has been in existence for over 75 years, and we are recognised worldwide for developing the Tavistock Model, a psychoanalytic approach to working with couples. This underpins our unique and successful approach to psychotherapy which is delivered in our training. With close to 1000 books or articles published and translated into many languages, at Tavistock Relationships we are at the vanguard of developments in the field of couple psychotherapy.

We offer world-recognised qualifications for people who want to start a new career in psychotherapy as well as for trained psychotherapists who would like to learn how to work effectively with couples.

Applications are now open for the following autumn 2025 courses:

Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Psychotherapy PGDip/MA

If you are looking for a career change, our 3 year (PGDip) or 4 year (MA) course will qualify for you to work with both couples and individuals using a psychodynamic framework.

This course is accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) with teaching, clinical experience and supervision delivered by experienced Tavistock Relationships tutors. Uniquely, students who train with TR will gain direct experience of client work in our own clinical service. This academic qualification is offered in collaboration with the University of London, Birkbeck College.

Advanced Standing Qualification in Couple Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

If you are a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist with experience in individual psychodynamic psychotherapy or counselling with adults or children and adolescents, you could qualify for our advanced 2-year course. Developed by Tavistock Relationships, and accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), this unique course which will enable you to work confidently and effectively with couples.

Advanced Standing Qualification in Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

If you are a psychoanalyst or psychoanalytic psychotherapist qualified to work with adults or with children, Tavistock Relationships has developed an advanced 2-year course which will enable you to work with couples. This is the only advanced couple psychoanalytic psychotherapy course in the UK to be accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
