Online psychotherapy: a way of working we have made our own
Published in Blog by TR on 25 September 2026
Online psychotherapy has become an established part of how we work at TR with individuals and couples. What began as a necessary response to the pandemic has developed into a way of working that we have carefully explored, refined and, over time, made our own.
Working therapeutically online is not simply a matter of transferring an in-person session onto a screen. It requires attention to the quality of the connection, the use of space, what can and cannot be communicated through a screen, and the subtle shifts in presence, engagement and emotional communication that take place when therapist and client are not physically together. For couple psychotherapy, there are additional considerations: how partners relate to one another in their own environment, how the therapist holds the couple, and how the online setting itself becomes part of the therapeutic relationship.
How experienced therapists create meaningful connections online
Over many years, our clinicians have developed considerable experience in thinking about these questions and adapting their practice accordingly. We have learned what helps online therapy feel psychologically alive, contained and connected, and how to preserve the depth and complexity of psychotherapeutic work when meeting remotely. Online psychotherapy is now an integral part of our clinical service, delivered by experienced therapists who understand both its possibilities and it’s particular demands.
Relationship support is available
We currently have a number of appointments available for individuals and couples looking for psychotherapy. Whether you are seeking support with difficulties in a relationship or are experiencing personal challenges, online therapy can offer a flexible way to access experienced clinical support without compromising the quality of the therapeutic work.
