Couple therapist and CEO of Tavistock Relationships, Andrew Balfour, talks about the work of couple therapy, and how it can help couples move forward and liberate them from feelings of stuckness and emotional isolation.
The first step is an initial consultation with one of our therapists.
At your initial appointment, we will work with you to understand the issues that concern you most. You can come with your partner or on your own. At this meeting, you will have the chance to talk through your concerns and ask any questions you may have about how therapy works.
The next step is to match you with a therapist who will be able to see you on a regular basis each week. We find that the continuity of weekly appointments can be very helpful in having the time to think about and work through difficulties and to achieve lasting changes.
How you can book
We offer in- person (at our City of London location) and online therapy. There are two ways of booking a consultation:
We can offer subsidised therapy to a limited number of people, who otherwise would not be able to access therapy. Please click here to enquire about our low fee services.
At Tavistock Relationships, we also offer support in every element of relationship and family life, as you can see below:
Therapy for individuals, supporting you through many personal and life challenges.
In a safe and confidential environment our experienced counsellors can then help you think through ways to address issues.
If you are experiencing difficulties with parenting or family life, no matter what your situation we can help.
However you identify, whatever your sexuality, our psychosexual service can offer help if you are experiencing problems in your sexual relationship.
Whether you are ending a marriage, civil partnership or long term relationship, or your relationship dissolved years ago, we can help.
Our methods have been developed over the last 70 years and combine clinical expertise and in depth theoretical knowledge with research and the training of therapists. A number of innovative psychotherapy approaches stemmed from this core model. These approaches help a range of relationship difficulties, psychosexual problems, parenting issues, separation and divorce and other specialised programmes. We also see clients individually.
We train the next generation of couple counsellors and psychotherapists, along with conducting research and informing policy development in this area. We are highly experienced in working with couples throughout the lifecycle and the challenges that significant life events present.
Our therapists undergo rigorous training, have a wealth of experience from a variety of settings and have substantial ongoing supervision and the support of a large institution behind them.
Why not take a look at both stories of past clients and published evidence that couple and individual counselling and psychotherapy works.
The easiest way to book an appointment is online.
