Relationship and individual counselling support at lower fee levels

Find out how you might access help at a reduced rate or even free.

Tavistock Relationships is a not-for-profit training institution specialising in couple therapy and psychoanalytic practice, with a charitable mission to help those in need. Our trained and in-training staff reserve appointments for those who otherwise might not be able to afford to pay the regular fee.

While we can't offer unlimited acesss at a reduced rate, the information below explains how we aim to help as many couples and individuals as we can, with a variety of options.

How does the low fee service work?

There are two main options to access reduced fee relationship or individual counselling.

We are highly trained and experienced practitioners in couple and individual therapy, and use a range of methods to support our clients. Some of our services are provided by therapists in advanced training under the supervision of a highly qualified and experienced clinician.

We operate a low-fee/no-fee service for those who would not otherwise be able to access services via two routes:

Option 1. £50 deposit Reduced Fee Service

For clients unable to pay the fixed fee rates, we have Reduced Fee Assessments also available to book online. These assessments may be booked with a £50 deposit and, as per our current system, an affordable fee will be agreed at the consultation appointment. The number available will be managed to balance with number of standard assessment slots.

Option 2. No deposit Low/No Fee options IN LONDON ONLY

For those clients living in London who cannot afford the £50 deposit, and whose joint household income is below £30,000, a low-fee/no-fee service is available. Clients can pay a £10 deposit for the initial consultation, this can be arranged by telephone. The number of places available at any one time will be determined by our capacity, and a waiting list is likely to be necessary.

Should I come to an initial consultation?

Our low fee service still runs in he same way as our normal service, it is just that you may need to wait for a slot - and we'll to talk to oyu about what you can afford.

Once the cost conversation has taken place, an iniitial consultation is the way to start looking at how therapy can help you.. If you then want to take things forward, then after the meeting you can decide if weekly sessions are for you.

How to book an appointment

The easiest way to book an appointment is online.

For people unable to afford the cost of an initial consultation, we offer reduced fee consultation appointments. Please select ‘Reduced Fee Assessment’ when browsing the booking calendar to identify these appointments.
