Tavistock Relationships is a not-for-profit training institution specialising in couple therapy and psychoanalytic practice.
We are highly trained and experienced practitioners in couple and individual therapy and use a range of methods to support our clients. Some of our services are provided by therapists in advanced training under the supervision of a highly qualified and experienced clinician. We operate a low-fee/no-fee service for those who would not otherwise be able to access services.
Any profits from this work are used to support the delivery of our charitable activity - primarily the operation of our low fee service.
TR offers some work at higher rates that reflect the training and experience of the therapists providing the services. Again, sessions offered for high demand times attract a higher rate.
All therapists working with international cases have undertaken further specialist training in this area. International rates apply where one or both clients are outside of the UK.
Standard fee (UK clients)
Our standard fee is between £100 and £120, depending on the timing of the session, with evening, Saturday and early morning appointments priced at £120.
This standard fee represents the cost of delivery of our work.
* As a charity, we invite clients who wish to, to contribute an additional amount, where they can afford to do so. Any discretionary payment is a tax-deductible charitable donation and eligible for gift aid.
We offer a range of reduced fee work for those who find the standard fee unmanageable.
To support our aim to make our services accessible for clients on lower incomes, we also offer no and low-cost work that is subsidised by our funders or via our other activities:
No and low fee work
We offer a range of no and low fee therapeutic services for those who may not otherwise be able to access therapeutic support.
Work delivered for less than £50 is usually supported by our funding partners and restricted to clients who live in London. Some services may have eligibility criteria set by the funder.
The initial consultation is an in-depth assessment of your needs, undertaken by a highly trained therapist. Clients find the initial consultation beneficial, even when they do not continue into ongoing therapy with us. The initial consultation appointments cost between £100 and £180, depending on the fee band, and payment is made at the point of booking.
If your schedule changes and you are unable to attend your booked appointment and provide us with seven days' notice of this, we can transfer your payment to a new appointment slot.
For those who find the cost of an initial consultation unmanageable, we do offer reduced fee consultation appointments. Please select the ‘Reduced Fee Assessment’ option when browsing the booking calendar.
In many circumstances, work with clients will continue beyond a 12-month period. Where this is the case, an inflation related price adjustment may be made.
Given the ongoing nature of therapy, there may be times when we can discuss the fee with you in response to a change in your financial circumstances, and adjust it accordingly so that the work can continue.
Because your therapy is a regular weekly session which is reserved just for you, we will charge you if you miss or cancel a session. If the therapist cancels a session for any reason, you will not be charged.
The therapist will give you advance notice of any upcoming breaks or holidays they are taking, which for the most part you should expect will be at Christmas, Easter and during the summer period.
