I’m an experienced couple’s therapist with specialist training in divorce and separation.
I support couples and individuals by giving them a safe space to reflect and understand how they got to this difficult point, to take responsibility and better understand the impact they have had on each other. It is important to acknowledge the sad loss and changes required now and in the coming years. The aim is to alleviate and reduce the pain, anger and blaming so that it is easier for both to move on with their lives. This is not a mediation service, but one that provides emotional and practical understanding and support.

Child contact services provided via independent accredited contact services.
Parenting shouldn’t end when relationships do. More than a million children have no contact whatsoever with one of their parents after separation. Unfortunately, some children experience behavioural issues including antisocial behaviour, distress, unhappiness, and both physical and emotional problems. NACCC is the only charity in the UK dedicated to solving this by providing safe spaces where children can meet the parents, grandparents, brothers or sisters they don’t live with or see anymore. We accredit around 350 contact centres across the UK, run by a network of nearly 3,000 volunteers and 1500 staff.
Information service delivered online. Local child contact centres deliver their services face to face or as virtual contact.
Information service provided free of charge. Supported child contact centres may have their own referral and session fees although some do not charge. Supervised contact centres normally charge by the hour and may charge additionally for court reports.

Online co-parenting advice platform
The Happy Co-Parent was created to be a free source of information, with helpful advice for parents who are separating or are separated. Interviews with leading individuals in the family law realm including therapists, psychiatrists, social workers and mediators focus on the common issues that are prevalent in many separated relationships. Along with this, visitors to the site can access information around common issues that arise with co-parenting, the law around separating/separated parents and questions that other co-parenting parents have submitted. There is an opportunity to ask questions in the Ask Sheila (Turner) section to a highly regarded family mediator and therapist.
The Co-Parenting Clinic offers parents an effective alternative to court
proceedings and the traditional legal process. Our approach puts the child at the heart of every parent’s decisionmaking. We provide this valuable collaborative service by combining legal advice & co-parenting support from two expert organisations. Legal advice is provided to each parent by an experienced specialist barrister at Children in the Middle ® while Kids Come First ® provide bespoke child-focused training workshops for specialist co-parenting
support and guidance.
This approach reduces acrimony and conflict between separated
parents, keeping families from the family courts and helping children
continue to thrive

Bill has developed an innovative and effective model of practice for working with parents who are in conflict with each other. When families are going through traumatic change, the children can respond by being fearful that their parents would not be able to collaborate quickly and effectively to keep them safe. Bill’s focus is to assist the parents to form an amicable, cooperative and collaborative parental alliance with each other, thereby reducing any psychological and developmental load that the children may be carrying.

Family mediation costs vary, according to the number of appointments you need. This itself is partly shaped by the range of issues you are looking to resolve.
For example, if you are looking to mediate agreements over money, parenting and property, you are likely to need more sessions than if your case relates only to money, which will affect mediation costs.
Generally, you can expect to pay in the region of £750- £1,500 per person in mediation fees. Your mediation service will discuss fees and charges with you at the outset. There are no hidden costs or charges. Most people find using family mediation to settle post-separation issues is much cheaper and quicker than heading straight to a solicitor and taking issues through the courts.
Legal aid is available for family mediation. Legal Aid is provided by the government to cover the cost of family mediation services for families in dispute.
It is means-tested. So you have to provide evidence of your current financial circumstances to prove you’re entitled to receive it.
If you are eligible, Legal Aid will cover all your individual mediation costs. It will also cover costs of the initial appointment and first mediation meeting for the other person, if they’re not eligible in their own right.
Eligibility for Legal Aid also enables you to get legal aid for legal costs, up to a cost limit.

We care about people and their families. Going through separation and the transition that this requires can be very emotional and challenging. People are often worrying about the future, their children, how they are going to pay for everything and even where they are going to live. We can guide people through the maze of decisions that face them at this time.
Who is the service for (e.g. for parents to work together or for individuals separately)? We cover all of the different types of mediation, traditional joint meetings face to face or online. Shuttle mediation, hybrid mediation and child inclusive mediation.
