The Working Together Divorce & Separation Directory (London)

If you would like your service to be listed, please send details (using the headings in the entries below - description max 100 words) to Richard Meier: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please note, this is a directory for services in the London area only.

The organisations listed in this directory are committed to enabling separating couples to navigate separation together and without unnecessary conflict. Frequent, intense and poorly resolved interparental conflict puts children's mental health and wellbeing at risk. The purpose of this Working Together Divorce & Separation Directory is to enable separating couples to understand the range of services available to them, including financial, legal, tax and emotional support. For some couples, working together will not be appropriate, and we each acknowledge that our particular approach is but one of a number of different ones that may benefit separated and separating couples: no one approach can ever be the answer for all.

Julie Murray - couple therapist

I’m an experienced couple’s therapist with specialist training in divorce and separation.

I support couples and individuals by giving them a safe space to reflect and understand how they got to this difficult point, to take responsibility and better understand the impact they have had on each other. It is important to acknowledge the sad loss and changes required now and in the coming years. The aim is to alleviate and reduce the pain, anger and blaming so that it is easier for both to move on with their lives. This is not a mediation service, but one that provides emotional and practical understanding and support.

Cavendish Family Office Divorce Service

Description

We have often found that during the divorce proceedings, the “non-financial” spouse, usually a woman, is suddenly cut off from the family advisers. These could include accountants, bankers, investment managers and lawyers.

We look to rapidly fill the gaps by making new introductions and sourcing Divorce Coaches as the emotional well-being of our client is always paramount.  We then seek to help complete the Form E and advise on the financial issues whilst at the same time co-ordinating the Lawyers, and if applicable the Coach.

In the aftermath of the proceedings, we can stay involved, managing the advisers, especially the investment managers, and making sure that all of our clients' needs are being met.

Who is the service for?

We help families and entrepreneurs from across the world with a net worth between £5m - £100m.

We have particular experience with women who have minimal experience or desire in managing their financial affairs during, or in the aftermath, of a legal separation.

Location:

Originally established in Mayfair, Cavendish Family Office is now available when and where our clients need us.

We work with families in the UK, Europe, USA, MENA and Asia.

Fees:

From £125 per hour plus VAT

National Family Mediation (NFM)

Description:

We help families in conflict, especially those divorcing or separating.

Our family mediation service is quicker and more cost-effective than heading to court. It reduces conflict, and your family stays in control of arrangements over children, property and finance.

We work across England and Wales and our family mediation service has 40 years’ experience providing expert, professional family mediation services.

Who is the service for?

Our service is available to parents, children, partners, grandparents and extended family members.

Website:

www.nfm.org.uk

Location:

National

Fees:

Family mediation costs vary, according to the number of appointments you need. This itself is partly shaped by the range of issues you are looking to resolve.

For example, if you are looking to mediate agreements over money, parenting and property, you are likely to need more sessions than if your case relates only to money, which will affect mediation costs.

Generally, you can expect to pay in the region of £750- £1,500 per person in mediation fees. Your mediation service will discuss fees and charges with you at the outset. There are no hidden costs or charges. Most people find using family mediation to settle post-separation issues is much cheaper and quicker than heading straight to a solicitor and taking issues through the courts.

Legal aid is available for family mediation. Legal Aid is provided by the government to cover the cost of family mediation services for families in dispute.

It is means-tested. So you have to provide evidence of your current financial circumstances to prove you’re entitled to receive it.

If you are eligible, Legal Aid will cover all your individual mediation costs. It will also cover costs of the initial appointment and first mediation meeting for the other person, if they’re not eligible in their own right.

Eligibility for Legal Aid also enables you to get legal aid for legal costs, up to a cost limit.
