What is TRAPC?

The Tavistock Relationships Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors is the professional home for TR's graduates and for esteemed honorary and international members who have demonstrated a commitment to furthering the profession of couple psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Its membership spans the globe, though most members are in the UK. It is a constituent part of the British Psychoanalytic Council and is the body through which psychoanalytic members become registrants of the BPC.

We train the next generation of couple therapists and provide clinical services to individuals, couples and parents, face to face (in London) and online. We provide a range of affordable services to help people with relationship difficulties, sexual problems and parenting challenges.

In addition, we undertake research, service development and policy activities which encourage the development and growth of effective and innovative relationship support interventions.

What is the package, what are the benefits?

therapist and client talking
  • Membership gives access to a number of regular professional events:
The Couple Convivium - a meeting where colleagues attend a presentation on a topic of relevance to understanding the unconscious life of the couple and the ways in which these are seen in the consulting room and beyond.
  • Under the Magnifying Glass meetings - a place where professional issues relating to private practice can be shared and debated. This is an excellent resource, especially for therapists who are working outside of an organisation.
  • Regular CPD discussions on specific topics - currently we are discussing race and difference
  • Film Nights - a space to enjoy a good film, curated by Perinne Moran, followed by a relaxed discussion about the couple issues raised
An Annual Event - this is a chance to hear an external speaker (usually from the creative fields) talk about their work, followed by a good lunch and networking with friends and colleagues
  • Subscription to the premier journal Couple and Family Psychoanalysis
  • 15% discount on all of TR's public events
