Who we are:
Tavistock Relationships has been helping individuals, couples and families since 1948, and now provides around 20,000 therapy sessions to individuals and couples every year, online and in person. About the role
What are we looking for?
- The Chair of the Board of Trustees should have a proven track record of excellent leadership skills, good communication and interpersonal skills as well as a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role and engage with the CEO and other senior management at TR.
- TR is a charity and so we are looking for someone with a clear understanding of the Charity Commission guidance and recommendations. It is essential to have experience of working in committees, the running of charities and/or organisations and be able to operate at a strategic level. As the organisation undergoes a period of change, the ability to hold a strategic vision in line with TR’s charitable mission is important, as is the understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of the role.
- We are looking for someone with who can contribute to an open and inclusive culture, and act with impartiality, fairness, and the ability to respect confidences. A willingness to speak their mind with tact and diplomacy and as well as hear and consider the opinions of others.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can use his or her networks to promote the charity externally and assist with its fundraising activities. A background in charitable or philanthropic work would be beneficial, as well as an understanding of financial management, governance and strategic development and planning.
