Course leader brings a wide array of training and clinical experience to flagship professional psychosexual training.

Andrew Davidson, co-lead of the Diploma in Psychosexual TheraptyTavistock Relationships has appointed Andrew Davidson as the new joint lead of the Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy (COSRT accredited course).

Andrew is a psychosexual and relationship psychotherapist and has worked with couples for over 20 years. He is registered with the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Andrew will share responsibility for the Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy with Bridget Wilkins.

The Tavistock Relationships Diploma is a popular course, designed to provide knowledge, skills and opportunities for clinical practice in the area of psychosexual therapy. It qualifies graduates to practise as psychosexual therapists in statutory and voluntary sectors as well as in private practice.

Andrew, who also teaches on the entry-level Certificate in Psychosexual Studies, has a long history of both training others and working in the psychodynamic psychotherapy arena, originally completing his clinical training at Relate, then working for Relate National for several years, where he managed and coordinated the clinical training.

Andrew has also worked in the corporate world, designing psychological and educational training programmes for various blue chip organisations. Some of these companies include British Airways, Heathrow Airport, Zurich Insurance, Network Rail, BT, and BP, to name but a few.

After furthering his skill set by completing an MSc in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy in 2018 at Tavistock Relationships, he gained practical experience working at an NHS Psychosexual Service in Bedford, and has continued his clinical work as a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships and in private practice.

On his appointment, Andrew said:

“The Diploma is a fantastic course, where practitioners get to gain expertise in the sexual dimension of relationships from couple therapy experts. It is one of the few opportunities to benefit from embedded expertise at Tavistock Relationships.

The course is strong already, but Bridget and I aim to push the research and learning in psychosexual therapy to make it an even higher standard for all by also introducing expert guest lecturers as the course expands.”

The Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy is open to register new applicants. More information can be found here https://tavistockrelationships.org/training-courses/psychosexual-training-courses/diploma-in-psychosexual-therapy.
