Tavistock Relationships offers local authorities Reducing Parental Conflict Training
Published in Press Releases on April 28th 2022
Tavistock Relationships, the internationally renowned couple therapy charity, is offering a range of specialist training programmes to support local authorities to help parents in conflict.
Funding for these evidence-based training solutions and tools, aimed at reducing the negative impact of parental conflict on children, is available to local authority commissioners through Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) Workforce Development Grants.
Tavistock Relationships has worked with couples and individuals for over 70 years, providing clinical services to thousands of couples and parents, undertaking research and training the next generation of couple therapists.
Sarah Ingram, Head of Tavistock Relationships’ Reducing Parental Conflict programme, explains:
“Research shows that exposure to frequent, intense and poorly resolved parental conflict can affect children’s emotional and social development, educational attainment, later employability, and physical and mental health.
“For the past five years we have been working with local authorities across England to create evidence-based interventions and toolkits to address the negative impact of parental conflict and its bearing on childhood outcomes. In that time, we have successfully worked in partnership with over 30 local authorities through the DWP’s Workforce Development Grant funding.
“We offer training and consultancy for local authority staff and others who work with families. We are flexible in our approach and can deliver bespoke as well a pre-packaged solutions. These range from technology-based solutions like apps, to clinical supervision, consulting services and evaluation.”
