Demand for couple therapists has never been greater, and we are experiencing higher than average enquiries about our courses. However, if you are new to the idea of becoming a couple therapist - or would simply like to know a bit more about couple therapy – our longer courses might feel like too much of a commitment.
Demand for couple therapists has never been greater, and we are experiencing higher than average enquiries about our courses. However, if you are new to the idea of becoming a couple therapist - or would simply like to know a bit more about couple therapy – our longer courses might feel like too much of a commitment.
To address this we have created a short online Introductory Course which is an ideal entry point before progressing onto our Foundation Certificate. I think it will be of particular interest to people who want to understand couple relationships and psychodynamic approaches, as well as those contemplating a career change.
Participants will be introduced to the central theoretical concepts of couple relationship counselling and therapy with a weekly group seminar focusing on different aspects of couple relationships.
I’m looking forward to running this course which we have designed to be easily accessible. Participants will be introduced to the central theoretical concepts of couple relationship counselling and therapy with a weekly group seminar focusing on different aspects of couple relationships. We’ll explore a range of fascinating topics including why we choose the partners we do, how difficulties get passed on across generations and how underlying difficulties play out between couples.
During these 90 minute sessions, which will take place on Monday evenings, I’ll be encouraging participants to think about what it’s like working with couples in counselling and therapy and we’ll take time to read and discuss fascinating clinical papers written by key people in the field of couple therapy and counselling. Our first course starts in early October 2023 and applicants need no previous experience.
You’ll certainly learn something new, and it could be the start of your journey towards becoming a fully qualified couple therapist
So, if you would like something more interesting to do during the long winter evenings - and you would like to know more about couple therapy - why not enrol here. You’ll certainly learn something new, and it could be the start of your journey towards becoming a fully qualified couple therapist.
Our course leader for our new Introductory Course is Ellen Burridge. Ellen is a couple psychoanalytic psychotherapist and an individual psychodynamic counselling psychotherapist. She trained at Tavistock Relationships and works there as a visiting clinician and tutor to current students.
If you'd like to know more about counselling and psychotherapy courses or a career in counselling, come to one of our open events and learn more.
