Equality and diversity statement

Tavistock Relationships - Supporting Couples, Families and Individuals Since 1948

TR is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion and connectedness. We are able to grow and learn better together with a diverse team of employees, supervisors, visiting clinicians, trainees/students and service users.

The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, and talent that our employees invest in their work represents not only part of our culture, but our reputation and TR achievement(s) as well. In recruiting for our organisation, we welcome the unique contributions that individuals bring in terms of their education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, colour, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.

We aim to create a workplace that celebrates the diversity of our employees, supervisors, visiting clinicians, trainees/students, and service users. We endeavour to build a service and environment and products that work for everyone by including perspectives from backgrounds that vary by race, ethnicity, social background, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, and national origin.

We are aware that discrimination (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) may be direct, indirect or institutional and at TR we aim to ensure that people are not discriminated against or harassed because of age, sex, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marriage & civil partnership, pregnancy & maternity. We do however reserve the right to evaluate whether our services and our trainings are helpful and appropriate for each person who approaches us or who undertake practitioner trainings with us.

Discrimination, harassment and victimisation are unacceptable and contrary to our explicit aim of providing therapeutic services and training together with recruiting and retaining diverse staff.

How we can help

If you are worried about your relationship, then it's better to get help sooner rather than later. It may be that you are worried about a specific problem - such as communication, infidelity, money worries, difficulties with sex, thinking about separating, parenting, conflict or anxiety that something’s wrong in your relationship – but whatever it is, we can help.

Therapy is a process during which you can talk about problems and concerns in a safe and confidential setting. The first step is to book an initial consultation appointment with one of our trained assessors. You can come with your partner or on your own. At this meeting you can talk through your worries and ask any questions you may have about how therapy works.

The next step is to match you with a therapist who will be able to see you each week. We find that continuity of weekly appointments can be very helpful to create time to think about, and work through, difficulties.
